WHAT IS BRIGHTON SONGLAB?
Songwriting made simple!
Brighton SongLab’s aim is to bring simple songwriting tips to beginners in Brighton. We’ll arm you with the tips and tricks to start writing your own songs in any genre - whether you want to top the charts one day or write lullabies for toddlers (both are equally valid!).
We firmly believe that anyone can write music and, more importantly, that everyone can have fun doing it.
Brighton SongLab is run by Katherine Stewart; local musician, songwriter and leader of the Free Brighton Choir.

About Me
MY NAME IS KATHERINE
I’ve been writing songs since long before I could play an instrument - and performing on various stages since I was an awkward 13 year old.
I’ve been playing guitar and gigging in bands for over a decade and I lead a free community choir in Brighton.
It might seem counter-intuitive to try to teach songwriting - but I’m not looking to iron out all your unique creativity, make you write pop songs or tell you how songwriting should be done. I simply want to help you to start writing songs for the first time or get yourself out of the songwriting ruts we all get stuck in sometimes. And, of course, I want you to love the art of songwriting!
Anyone can write music, irrespective of their age or whether they play an instrument. It’s a powerful way to express yourself.
