Running 3 times over June, July and August in Preston Park this year, this songwriting workshop is designed to offer learning by doing. No note-taking (unless you want to!); no pressure!
We'll work together to turn 4 chords into a proper song in less than 2 hours.
In this workshop we're going to expand on some of the tips given in our video course (but you don't need to have done that course to take part in this workshop).
We'll talk about different practical approaches to songwriting, I'll answer your questions and we'll have a go at writing a song together.
This songwriting workshop is a free taster for our upcoming Easter songwriting course for kids and teens.
We'll talk about some top beginners' songwriting tips and work together to write a song of our own at breakneck speed!

A SongJam is a songwriting workshop that gets you to write a whole song – either on your own, or in a group with Brighton SongLab teacher Katherine – in under 4 hours!
The twist is that you’ll have to write your song about a theme of our choosing... and you’re not allowed to prepare in advance. It’s a speedy songwriting challenge!
This workshop is perfect for beginners, songwriters with writer’s block and songwriters who want to collaborate.

These workshops will be held on the fourth Sunday of every month (apart from April and May 2020).
We'll start the workshop with a genre or theme and then building a whole song around it - either as a group or as individuals - over the course of 3.5 hours.

Absolute Beginners is a practical group course designed to guide you through all the secrets to great songwriting. Each week we'll tackle a new element of or approach to songwriting and together, over the eight weeks, we'll build a song using the techniques we've learnt.
